At Interstate Equipment Inc., we understand working with the right subcontractors is key to the success of any project. We also understand every construction project will have challenges along the way. How those challenges are handled can make (or break) the projects success, and can make (or break) relationships. With more than three decades in the excavation & grading business we understand you need a construction partner you can rely on.

Great Safety Performance Begins With A Great Safety Culture

Interstate Equipment, Inc. places safety at the front and center of every project, every day. In fact, we consider safety to be a mindset, and desire to be the safest excavation and grading contractor in the industry. That mindset and desire starts at the top of our organization and runs down to the new employee. Our goal is to have ZERO incidents and ZERO injuries. We know there are inherent risks in the type of work we perform. To reduce those risks we:

  • Have daily safety huddles prior to starting work to discuss any safety concerns

  • Encourage near miss reporting

  • Allow any employee to stop work for anything they deem to be unsafe

  • Have frequent safety audits which are conducted by in-house and third party safety consultants.

  • Require all new employees to undergo new employee safety orientation

  • Require all employees to be OSHA 10 certified

  • Require senior management and project managers to be OSHA 30 certified

  • Have flexibility to enhance our company safety manual to be site specific

Excavation & Grading Project Spotlight

Missouri American Water Company - Generator Addition

Interstate Equipment was contracted by the general contractor, Tarlton Corp. to provide all site grading, on site hauling, remediation, backfill, import & granular fill, and finish grading for a new generator facility.

The quick turnaround project demanded multiple trades to work simultaneously, which required daily project management, planning and communication between trades, which included moving, stockpiling, and placing back 10,000cy of material on-site.

For its part, Interstate met all target dates and kept the project on schedule.
